Print, scan, choose paper settings, and troubleshoot everyday home-office equipment.
Search this topicIf you did not choose another destination, look in the Pictures/Scans folder within your user folder. In Windows Scan, Show more exposes Save file to so you can set a different folder before scanning. Check that location in File Explorer rather than assuming every scanner application uses the same default destination.
Confirm the printer supports AirPrint and connect it to your network. Put the iPhone on the same Wi-Fi network, then use the app’s print command to select the printer and options. AirPrint does not require a separate driver download. If the model is not listed as compatible, check the manufacturer’s supported printing method.
Open File > Print, expand Media & Quality, and choose the intended source in Feed From when your printer exposes that option. Set the paper type to match what is loaded in that tray. If the control is absent, check the printer setup and supported features rather than assuming every model offers selectable trays.
In the Print dialog, look under Media & Quality for the Quality setting and choose Draft if your printer supports it. Use it for working copies where reduced print quality is acceptable. Check the preview and selected printer before sending the job, and return to a suitable quality setting for final documents or photos.
Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners and choose a specific printer in the Default printer menu instead of using the last-used-printer behavior. Also check the default paper size. This chooses the normal starting device; an app or saved print preset may still use a different selection, so verify important jobs before printing.
Open the PDF in Acrobat, choose Print, and select Poster under Page Sizing & Handling. Adjust Tile Scale and inspect the preview to see how many sheets the design will use. Set an overlap if you need assembly margins. Print a test section first when size or alignment must be exact.
Use Acrobat’s Poster options to add overlap, cut marks, and labels before printing. The repeated edge content helps align neighboring sheets, while labels identify their positions and cut marks guide trimming. Assemble on a flat surface and check the image across seams before attaching everything permanently; overlap settings do not automatically trim the paper.
Choose Booklet in Acrobat or Reader’s Print dialog rather than simply printing two pages per side in normal order. Select the binding and use Both Sides for a compatible duplex printer. For a manual process, print fronts, reload as instructed, and print backs. Test a short document before committing the full booklet.
Each folded sheet holds four document pages: two on the front and two on the back. Acrobat arranges those pages so they read correctly after folding. Its Sheets range therefore differs from the PDF page count. Do not change the sheet range to sixteen just because the original document contains sixteen pages.
Borderless printing often enlarges the image slightly beyond the paper edge to prevent a white rim. Epson’s photo-printer guidance calls this expansion. Reduce expansion where your model permits, or choose a bordered layout when every edge matters. A different image-to-paper shape can cause additional cropping, so review the preview before printing.
A torn scrap or another obstruction may remain in the paper path. Stop and follow the exact model’s jam-clearing instructions, including power and access precautions. Inspect the indicated areas with good light and remove accessible fragments without forcing mechanisms. Pulling from the wrong opening can tear the sheet and make the problem worse.
